Laser technology is ideal where point to point, high speed
communication is required between buildings up to distances
of 1km.
The real benefit of laser networking is performance. These
units can operate up to GigaBit Ethernet speeds making them an
extremely viable alternative to Fibre links between buildings.
In many cases an inter- building fibre link will attract an
installation cost along with an ongoing rental whereas once
installed, the laser unit only requires minimal maintenance.
